Brighton Aikikai

Amyas Gilbert (1^st Dan Aikikai) started practising Aikido in Vienna under Karl-Heinz Reiter 4^th Dan Aikikai, where he lived for half a year before attending university in Brighton. There he discovered the Brighton Aikikai and has since trained consistently under Mark Hale 3^rd Dan (who sadly moved in 2009), Nik Doyle 4^th Dan and Phil Rozier 4^th Dan. He received Shodan in spring 2010 from Pacal Durchon 5^th Dan Aikikai.

Amyas often travels abroad to attend courses, notably those of Phillipe Gouttard 6^th Dan and above all Christian Tissier Shihan 7^th Dan.

In autumn 2010 he became a qualified BAB instructor and has since been teaching regular classes at Brighton Aikikai.
